How a weirdo sees the world…

Help a Newbie!

Image

I am totally aware of how annoying this post is, but please have mercy and give me a few tips!

As those few people who read my posts know, I am a blog newbie. I have a handful of people who are polite enough to like my amateur writing, and make me very happy.

However, I still have 2 major problems:

  1. How do I get people to notice my little blog?
I do my best to read and comment on as many posts as I can, and try to have snappy and interesting titles, but still…
  2. How do I get people to comment on my posts?
I totally understand when people don’t like what I write, but how am I supposed to learn what I do wrong when nobody comments and tells me what I do wrong (or right)!?

I would really appreciate some tips. Thank you! 🙂

Ah guys, ‘like’ing doesn’t help me. Comments and tips do!

Firstly: have patience! 😉 The audience doesn’t grow over night. You need to have patience to build it.
Secondly: do what you expect others to do. Meaning … go and comment / share info/ tips on other blogs with the same interest/ themes as you. Or recommend other blogs that you like via your blogroll
Thirdly: use offline to promote your blog and your content. Send your articles to friends or acquaintances that might be interested in what you write and wiling to give you feedback and learn from it. If they like it and found it interesting for sure they will forward the links to a few other more.
Fourthly: write good content. keep it short and simple. focus on a certain theme. consult few “how to blog” blogs – e.g. http://www.problogger.net/

Last, but not least: have fun on the way! 🙂

    Good luck!

Ruxandra’s suggestions were good. This can be frustrating process, but you should setup a Facebook page and a Google+ page, and try to increase traffic through those sites. And what she said–although it is time intensive, you should visit other blogs and comment. People will check out your blog if you do that.

These are also some good sites: http://www.bloggersentral.com/ and http://www.dailyblogtips.com/ (the latter is more money-oriented). Finally, http://en.support.wordpress.com/ has some good resources. Good luck!

P.S. This might be another good website: http://www.dailywritingtips.com/. Also, don’t be afraid to use Google to find writing prompts or suggestions on how to improve your blog.

I got 121 views today, which, considering the 4 I got yesterday, is quite an achivement. 🙂

It could be due to the award you were nominated for from http://witheringlife.wordpress.com/. I urge you to check it out and to fulfill the conditions of the award. It will help draw traffic to your site.

Thanks for telling me about the award, I had no idea until you told me! I think I fulfilled the conditions, I’ll just see and wait now… 🙂
        Thanks again 🙂

Hi! Thanks for picking up and following my blog and for linking to it in your Sunshine Award post – congratulations by the way. Just wondered, I am having similar issues to you with regards to audience figures, how are you getting on now? Have you seen any improvement? I am doing the following/commenting cycle but my daily hits are pretty poor. Did you check out any of those websites? Thanks. 🙂

You’re very welcome! and thanks 🙂
I’ve seen some overall improvement, and definite improvement when I add a new post and spend hours on and commenting on other blogs. Sadly, I don’t always have that much time to spare (busy university student, you see).
I check some of them out. Very interesting and helpful, but didn’t change much of the way I handled things before…
I just hope that the award nomination helps increasing my audience.
Good luck and keep in touch 🙂

Thanks for getting back to me – I’ve just checked out the links too and am of the same opinion as you. I think it’s a case of perservering! I’ve just posted asking what people think of my blog so we’ll see if that generates any feedback! 🙂

That’s good. As for me, I like your blog – though whether that counts is your decision, because I am a newbie as well 🙂
        Good luck anyway 🙂
